Problem: The problem is our friends and family members in the military are dying or being maimed in Iraq. Additionally, the US is spending about $200 billion annually in a wasted manner. Cause: The cause of this problem is George Bush and almost all of our Congress members. All the politicians say we are at war, Why didn't Congress declare war? Iraq had nothing to do with Al Qaeda. The weapons of mass destruction were (I believe) a lie by George Bush's administration. The real reason that we invaded Iraq is because our currently elected officials support an interventionist policy with regards to foreign affairs. Interventionist policies include supporting dictators (if they are friendly to US) and imposing our views on another country or destroying a country through military or CIA efforts (if the county is not friendly to US). Solution: The solution for Iraq is to bring our troops home immediately. The people of Iraq will have to solve their own problems, which can only begin once we are gone. The U.S. should have a strong national defense but not impose ourselves on other nations.
Update: This Military Commissions Act of 2006, that Kay Granger supported and voted for, is absolutely horrible. I can not believe that our government has put in place a law that allows torture of anyone (don't argue that these forms of coercion are not torture, they are TORTURE), makes the Geneva Convention optional, ends the right of Habeas Corpus ( the right to bring your situation in front of a judge), and pardons Bush and anyone in the administration for any acts since 9-11-2001 (Yes, he actually pardoned himself. Of course, with Kay Granger's blessing). These actions can be taken against anyone, not just foreign citizens, but against any American. Here are a few Youtube videos for more clarity. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CU2_S2pK3bo Olbermann on Military Commissions Act http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoRjbIQMXGQ Cafferty of Bush's Pardon of himself
